ACADEMIC RESOURCE CENTER
1. Academic Support Class
Two semesters, 9-11
Students who are identified at admission as needing additional academic support are scheduled into a 7th-period class that provides additional instruction in both language arts and mathematics. Students review basic skills in both areas and work on reading and other assignments from their six academic classes. Students will practice organizational and note-taking skills and receive direct instruction in study skills. The class is team-taught by a math teacher and an English/World Language teacher.
2. Peer & USF Tutorials
Upon request, students may be paired with a peer tutor to receive help in a particular subject. Peer tutorials take place during lunch period in Room 205. Peer tutors are also available for drop-in services.
Tutors from the University of San Francisco will be available during designated lunch periods, Student Support periods and after school.
3. Director of Student Support
The Director of Student Support helps families obtain testing and other services from the SF Unified School District, and ensures that paperwork for extended time standardized testing is submitted. She also assists in the college application process for students with identified needs and communicates essential information to parents and teachers.
