1. What is Cristo Rey?
Cristo Rey is Spanish for “Christ the King.” In 1996, the Jesuits opened Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago, providing high-quality college prep education to students from low-income families. This school was funded in large part by the innovation Corporate Internship Program.
2. What is the Cristo Rey Network?
Based on the success of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, 24 schools across the country are now members of the Cristo Rey Network. Combined, these schools provide 6,000 students the chance to work with over 1,000 corporate sponsors to finance their high school education. The Cristo Rey Network provides support to these schools, and facilitates meetings between leaders of Network schools to share ideas and best practices.
3. What kind of jobs do students have?
The jobs are white-collar, entry-level, clerical positions, with responsibilities including filing, data entry, reception, document scanning, records management, assembling meeting materials, mass mailings, etc.
4. When do students work?
Work days are Monday through Friday. Work hours are generally from 8:30 or 9:00 am to 4:30 or 5:00 pm. Exact hours are determined by transportation logistics.
5. Where do students work?
Geographic region served covers San Francisco (primarily in the Market Street downtown corridor), the Upper Peninsula as far south as San Mateo and BART-accessible Oakland. For a full list of sponsoring companies,

6. How do students get to work?
Students walk, take BART, or ride a van to work. With the exception of some students whose worksite is location within a few blocks to work, all of our students are chaperoned to work.
7. How much does it cost the sponsor companies?
Annual sponsor fee is $29,000 for a full team. The sponsor is not responsible for any additional expenses (payroll taxes, benefits, etc).
8. How long is the work year?
The work year roughly follows the academic calendar. For the 2010-2011 year, work will begin on August 30 and end on June 1. The work program also observes Christmas break, Spring break, and certain other holidays.
9. What if a Sponsor needs the position filled over school breaks or holidays?
Sponsors can contract with the school on a per-diem basis, to provide work over these periods.
10. What if a company wants to sponsor, but does not need a full time employee?
We can create partial teams by only utilizing one, two or three students. These ¼, ½, or ¾ teams have a proportionally reduced sponsorship fee.
11. How does the schedule work?
Four students share one full-time position with the following rotation schedule. Students never miss class to attend work.
