The Social Studies Department at Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA) seeks to nurture young women of learning, leadership and community who think critically about the past and its lessons for today. The Department recognizes that students should be aware of the world around them, involved in its development and, as young women of faith and vision, concerned for its future.

The Department encourages students to recognize their role as members of a democratic society to develop in them a sense of civic responsibility, cultural sensitivity and environmental concern. We believe that an interest in current issues, their causes and ramifications is essential for students to become active participants in the global community.
