The campuses of the California State Universities provide high-quality, affordable higher education to meet the ever-changing workforce needs of the people of California.

The CSU draws its students from the top third of California's high school graduates. An average these are students who earn a B average or better in high school.

CSU offers more than 1,800 bachelor’s and master’s degrees in some 240 subject areas. A select number of doctoral degrees are offered jointly with the UC or private universities in CA.

CSU awards more than 4.5 percent of America’s bachelor’s degrees.

Diversity at CSU

The CSU is the nation’s most diverse university system, with students of color above 53 percent, twice the national average for four-year public universities.

Eligibility Index

The eligibility index is a weighted combination of a students’ grade point average during the final three years of high school and a score on either the ACT or the SAT.

Graduates of California high schools must have a minimum index of 2900 using the SAT or 694 using the ACT.

Total SAT v & m score + (800 x GPA) or
(10 x total ACT score) + (200 x GPA)

Student costs - State University Fees
The 2003-04 undergraduate fee of $2,046 applies to students with more than six credits.
It cost the CSU almost $11,000 annually to educate a student. Of that amount, the state pays approximately 70 percent, in-state students pay 25 percent
